A Most Unusual Day

Today is a day I will remember for a while.  I was awoken by a 3.6 earthquake at around 5:00 am.  It sounded like someone was bowling on my roof!  I know that you California folks will think nothing of this, but having never experienced this phenomenon, it was a little scarwey!

The flip side of this day,  is I won a random prize in the Color Throwdown 100th celebration blog hop!  YEAH!  It was a fun hop and the best part was seeing and meeting these wonderful creative people!  I won by leaving a comment on Elise's blog,  Mamacow Creations.  Such a cute name and what a talented lady too.  Be sure to check out her blog:

Thank you Color Throwdown for all the fun and the chance to win!

Have a great weekend!

  1. Wow! An earthquake! I hope all is ok with you! I'll check out the blog now. Thanks for the link!

  2. I've never been in an earthquake before and I can only imagine how scary it must have been, Nancy! Glad you're alright! Congrats on your win!

  3. YEAHOOOOOOO! Nancy! What a delight you are! That whole event was QUITE a gas, and meeting you was definitely a highlight! Congratulations, again! Perhaps the earthquake was to alert you to your good fortune! Hee Hee {We are WAY too used to them, here in Cali!} I can't wait to see what you do with your stamps {and which ones you pick!}!!! Way to go, sweet thing!

P.S. Glad to know you enjoy so much fine art, as well! It's definitely hard to switch from one type of craft to another, however. Preparing for our county fair was EXTREMELY helpful in that way - nothin' like a good deadline to make you jump. You'll paint again when the right time speaks to you!

YEE HAW! Thanks for the shout-out & kind words! I look forward to visiting you often!

  4. Hi Nancy, I know exactly how you feel. About 3 or 4 weeks ago we had an earth quake here in Ontario too. I came home at lunch time and was at the kitchen table and the house started shaking, tv was swaying and the china cabinet was rattling. pretty freaky! (I thing ours was a 5.o)

  5. i've lived in cali all my life and earthquakes are something you never get used to but more of a 'norm' to us. we just had one (a 5.2) about 2 weeks ago.
glad you are ok! take this tip from my son who learned this in kinder: drop, tuck, and cover.

  6. congrats on your win, nancy!! elise is truly a fabulous gal! sorry you woke to a earthquake, though! i have only been in one and it was pretty darn scarry!!

  7. Congrats on your Win Nanfy....sorry abouot earthquake...I will be scarry too if I am on that situation..always pray for you here dear...hugs...

  8. Hi Nancy, I loved reading about your grandmother and all the fun things that you did as a child. Congratulations, too, on your win. Earthquakes are scarry, they happened all the time when My family and I lived in Anchorage, Alaska. You take care and have a great weekend.

Thank you for your comments, they make me Happy!
