I said good by to my family home today, My family lived in that house and neighborhood for 50 years. My cousin Tom and his wife, Valerie, came to help, in spite of their recent loss. When Tom was passing through the dining room, he said he smelt the pipe tobacco of Uncle Bob. I smelt it too. For a brief moment the fragrant smell of my Father's pipe went through the room. It gave us all a chill. With that, I must say that life does go on. Thank goodness for that.
Life does go on, Nancy. It can just be so difficult sometimes. 50 years is a very long time for a family to own a home, I can't imagine how it must feel to have to leave. I know you must have some wonderful memories, and I'm sure the next family that lives there will be making wonderful memories of their own. It's been a tough year for you, and with your mom not doing well now either, I'll be sure to keep you in my prayers. Wish I could give you a real hug. . .
ReplyDeleteHi Nancy I know a little of how you are feeling. I have lived in my home for 44 years my DH and I took it on when my dad died. There are so many memories here and I know that in a few years we will have to sell and move to something smaller. I am really dreading that day. You have so many happy memories and they will never go. Thinking of you.

My dear friend.
ReplyDeleteI can feel your heartache....I remember how it was for me to leave our home last year, but we were there only for 10 years....
And I believe your dad came to say goodbye, too and you can consider yourself blessed for that. He wouldn`t have come if he was`t pleased and proud of you. Hugs my dear.
Sending hugs to you, Nancy.
