Chapter Five - The Christmas House

If you know me, you know I love Christmas.  Going to my Grandmother’s house on Christmas was a magical time for me as a child.  The house would be full of delicious smells of turkey and Toll House cookies.  Timeless old decorations were in every room.  One in particular was a wooden Christmas tree.  The tree is pictured in my seasonal banner.  It was hand painted and opened in the middle to house surprise goodies.  I have treasured that tree for decades.  It now sits proudly on the mantel of my new “Christmas House.”

My new home is so similar in architecture to my Grandmother’s house.  They were both built in the 1940’s.  With the green tile floor in the kitchen it just calls out for Christmas decorations.  I think I have moved to the North Pole for sure.  Decorations and lights are already everywhere in the neighborhood.  I may not have my studio completely unpacked, but my house is ready for Santa.  Putting my own timeless Christmas ornaments on the tree has made me feel right at home.  Did I mention that the UPS carrier brings dog treats for Sissy and Molly?  I think he must be one of Santa’s elves J

My daughter agrees that this new home is definitely a “Christmas House.”  Full of love, good cheer and many Christmas memories waiting to be discovered.
